Practicing Artist, Practicing Teacher

My professional training includes a BA in Art Education from Southern Illinois University and an MA in Painting from Western Illinois University. As an art teacher my goal was to be a practicing artist.

I began working with watercolor while I was teaching, as the medium allows me to produce pieces quickly, making it easier to fit creating art into a busy schedule. My work has been shown locally, and at many other national and international venues, allowing my students access to them to see that “I practiced what I preached.”

I enjoy exploring the many different ways of manipulating watercolors on a variety of paper substrates, painting unusual and fresh images or subjects.
