Painting With Fabric
Since I was five years old, I have considered myself to be an artist. It has only been since my retirement, in 2002, that I became a serious quilter. Before that, I explored all sorts of fine and folk arts. My joy comes from the designing, and the challenges of making, quilts.
I have always loved hand sewing, needle turned applique’, embroidery, and beading. If the fabric isn’t just right, I’ll add dye or paint where needed. Combining these techniques keeps quilting a fresh, interesting medium for me. The quilt is a large, blank canvas to paint with fabric.
